A great real estate agent can make all the difference when buying or selling your home. I am here to explain three tips to keep in mind when finding that perfect Realtor.
Find a full time agent.
This is a must! The best agents are always full time agents. They treat it like a real job and they devote countless hours studying the market and crafting their skills. Trust me you want an agent who is in it for the long haul. The best agents never stop working for their clients. Escrow may close but that does not mean the work is done.
Make sure your Realtor is FUN!
He may not be your best friend but believe me you will want someone you enjoy working with. The real estate transaction can be stressful, so having someone that is fun helps a lot!
Find a local Realtor
Make sure your Realtor is local and savvy in the market you intend to buy or sell in. They should know what is currently active and what the other homes in the neighborhood has sold for. Ask the Realtor if they have seen the home before? A great Realtor knows the inventory and constantly tours home.

I agree that you should look for someone who is locally based when looking for a realtor. I would imagine that finding someone who is nearby would help because they would know the local market well. I’m looking for someone to help me sell my home so I’ll have to find someone who is locally based to help me.
Thanks for the comment Olivia. Would you mind me asking where your home is, that you are planning to sell?
You advised working with a realtor that you enjoy working with, and that working with someone you like can help relieve the stress of finding a new home. My old roommate is looking for a home, and could definitely benefit form the expertise of a realtor. I’ll advise she choose a real estate professional who is friendly and gets along with her. Thanks for the helpful tips.
While the clown picture was probably a little more over the top than what you would actually want, I can definitely see how having a realtor you would enjoy working with would help you have a good experience buying a house. I imagine that getting referred to someone by a friend or family member who has recently bought a house would probably be the best way to make sure you would like them. It would also be useful to spend some time reading their reviews online.
My parents are wanting to move near us to be here to see our three children grow up. It was phenomenal to know that a great real estate agent can make all the difference when buying or selling your home. I would imagine that this tip would help them get a great house that is close to us!
Absolutely! My network of Realtors spans nationwide. What area are you in now? I can send you a few referrals.
It is good to know that one should find a full time agent when it comes to hiring a realtor. I am happy to learn that these people devote countless hours studying the market and crafting their skills. Another thing to look for in a realtor would be excellent communication skills. it would be ideal to get your questions answered thoroughly and quickly.
I agree that when looking for a realtor it is important to make sure that they work full-time int the real estate industry. Because there is so much that real estate agents do outside of the office you need to make sure that they are putting their part in. Another thing that I would look for is to make sure that they live in the area that you’re moving into to give you information on the neighborhood and amenities near that neighborhood. That way you will know much more before buying your house.
Thanks for the tips for choosing a realtor. My wife and I want to sell our home soon, but we haven’t been able to find the right realtor. Thanks for mentioning that a full time realtor will often be able to devote more time and effort to selling your home. We will be keeping our eyes open for only full time realtors.
A friend of mine is getting ready to start looking at houses, and I was curious about how you would choose a realtor to help him out. I really like that you say to find someone that is full time and devotes time to studying the market. It would be nice to know that they are looking out for different houses in your area that could change in price.
Reviews goes a long way. I would check to see if they are on Zillow, Trulia, Or Realtor.com. Feel free to ask them how many homes they sold last year? Or what was their favorite transaction and why?
I agree that you want to find a local realtor to help you buy a home. It would seem that finding someone who is locally based would help you know they will know the area. I’m looking for a realtor to help me buy a new home so I’ll have to find one that is locally based.
Hi Olivia, I can help you find a great local agent through my network. Where are you looking to buy?
My brother is currently looking for his first home. He is very inexperienced, and could use expert advice throughout the process. I didn’t realize how important it is to chose a realtor that is close to your buying area to ensure they have the expertise required to know what a good deal looks like in that neighborhood. I’ll be sure to let my brother know about this consideration.
My husband and I are excited to start the process of finding a new home for our family! We want to make sure we find a realtor that will be able to guide us through this process and make it a good experience. As you said, it’s good to find someone that is full time to ensure that they are devoted and dedicated to their job. Thanks for sharing!
My wife and I want to sell our home later this year, but neither of us feel we have enough experience to do it ourselves. We were thinking a realtor could be helpful in aiding the selling of our home for the maximum price. I thought the suggestion to work with a local agent that understands the local real estate market was really helpful. I think I would feel more comfortable working with a local agent anyways.

I like your recommendation to find a local realtor so that they’ll know what homes are available and what the area is like. This could help them provide you with a house that will suit you and your family. Once you’ve narrowed down your potential realtors, you’d probably want to meet with them in person so that you can see how they communicate and answer your questions, since you’d want one that will listen to you and provide you with the information you need.
You mentioned finding a realtor that lives in your area if you’re trying to sell or buy a home, which is a great suggestion. My husband and I are wanting to sell our current home. Finding a realtor in our area will probably help us the most because they know that kind of homes/ qualities are wanted for the area and know where to post the listing for the most traffic.
